Client: Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Project value: £9 million
Project stage: Complete
Following the completion of a feasibility study the practice secured a commission for the expansion of the main operating suite at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
The building, which is over four floors provided three additional operating theatres for paediatrics including ultra-clean laminar flow systems and a Laparoscopic facility. The existing theatre changing facilities were expanded and refurbished to cater for the increase in cases and now accommodate the relocation and expansion of the hospital pharmacy dispensary. The scheme also incorporated the existing pathology suite which was expanded.
Since being awarded this commission Gibberd have been approved for inclusion on the trust’s framework agreement for Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Other works for the hospital include a facility design for a new perinatal unit including maternity, reproductive medicine (IVF/Assisted Conception), gynaecology, foetal medicine and neonatal services within segregated patient pathways.
